Hello, your Fairy God-Librarian here and be prepared for a DC-themed blog post below!

In high school, I had a friend that got me into reading the daily blogs posted on Sparklife.com. One day, I learned of something called Nanowrimo (that’s a separate blog post) but thought nothing of it.

For those who don’t know, Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month (November) and is an online non-profit that encourages writers to write 50,000 words of a novel in a month.

Fast forward to mid-2016, and I decide to participate. As I’m working on my goal, I search the site and find a writing group stationed in my hometown. So, like WONDER WOMAN, I locate their Facebook page and lo and behold I’m in a writing group that meets once a month! Superman couldn’t have done a better job! (Am I right, ladies?)

These super heroes help me fix grammar and editing, tell me something positive, generate ideas, help craft plot and outlines, and everything else that doesn’t involve the actual writing (I refuse to be the Aquaman of the group!).

As of the writing of this post, I am currently attending a writing retreat at the host’s house. Besides our meetings, we also chat online, encourage each other to reach our writing goals, and basically help each other control our superpowers (yes, writing is a superpower!) and personally, I wouldn’t have become a better writer without them. They are my Justice League.

These people also give me the self-assurance I need to keep writing, to help me feel like I don’t need to be famous to keep working at what I love. This is something that every unknown writer is familiar with.

Sigh…..one day I will be published.

But in the meantime, the dream I hold of one day seeing my name on a book in every major bookstore wouldn’t be nearly half as possible if I hadn’t found a group of equally serious writing buddies with whom I can join in on the fight to end the book-related injustices in the world.

By the way, Bob insists on being Batman.

So, this is your Fairy God-Librarian signing off.

                        Love,

                        Lacie 🙂
